Lahore witnessed this monsoon season’s first heavy rainfall. The rain started Monday night and continued intermittently through Tuesday afternoon. The rain was so intense that it left most of the low-lying streets and areas underwater.
The Chowburji, Samanabad, Shadman, Mozang, and China Scheme area were the worst effect by the rain. Drain water entered the ground floors of shops, houses, and other buildings in several locations and the flow of traffic was disturbed everywhere in the city.
Despite such a heavy downpour, the authority has been trying its best to help the people out. Both officials of the Punjab Police and Rescue 1122 were seen on roads helping people cross the roads and clearing debris so water could start flowing properly.
According to the met office, at least 300 millimeters of rain was experienced by Lahore today. The met office has also warned that there will be more rain in the upper parts of Punjab including Lahore. A new spell of rain is also expected to start from July 23.
