Here’s how to get and recharge an M-Tag for Motorways travel

From May 2019, cars without M-Tag will not be allowed to travel via M1 and M2 motorways

With Ramazan coming up in less than two months and Eid-Ul-Fitr to follow, thousands of people will be traveling through motorway M1 and M2 to reach their destinations in KPK and Punjab.

During Eid holidays, M1 and M2 motorway is so crowded that people have to wait hours to get through toll plazas. This has been a problem for many years and the only solution was to automate the system to reduce queue lines. Keeping this in mind, the FWO has made sent a notification to make M-Tag motorway registration a compulsory for everyone using motorways from May 2019.

In other words, if your car is not registered with an M-Tag ID, you will not be allowed on the motorway. So it is crucial that you get your m tag motorway registration before May to avoid getting in trouble on Motorways. This guide will help you on how to get m tag motorway Pakistan.

How to get M-Tag For Motorways in Pakistan

The easiest way to get M-Tag registration is to head to the Motorways toll plaza and visit the M-tag issuance booths that are installed on the left side of the toll plazas.

Previously, M-Tag was issued inside a container, a makeshift office, but now you’ll see a proper office set up with multiple data entry operators ready to help you get your M-tag registration.

The entire process is free of cost and takes around 3 minutes to get it. There is also no minimum balance requirement. Just remember to take your vehicle’s registration book and your CNIC with you.

Once you’re registered, your m-tag motorway can be recharged in many ways (discussed below). From now on, whenever you cross a toll plaza, you’ll get an SMS with your balance information. M-tag motorway balance check is only possible through this method at the moment. The facility to check the balance through online means will be introduced soon.

Here’s how M-Tag can be recharged

The Frontier Works Organization (FWO) has introduced multiple methods for recharging your M-Tag motorway. Here are the different methods.

Scratch Cards – You can recharge your m tag id through scratch cards of Rs. 200, 500, 1000, 2000, and 3000. These scratch cards are available at all service areas of the Motorways as well as customer care center on entering and exit points of M2.

To recharge through scratch cards, simply send an SMS to 9909 with the scratch card number <space> M-Tag Motorway ID.

Jazz Cash – To recharge your m-tag online, simply use Jazz Cash wallet on your mobile phone. You can also recharge your m-tag motorway id by visiting a jazz cash franchise.

Other Options – M-Tag motorway balance can also be recharged using Credit/Debit cards, M2 Drive through Center, Through Smart Motorway application, and through the motorways website.
