The British Council will now allow you to give IELTS on a computer

This is excellent news for those who prefer typing instead of writing

The British Council in Pakistan has good news for students who are comfortable typing rather than writing. The test takers of IELTS will now be able to perform the same test on a computer. The computer-based IELTS will go live later this month, starting from 24th February and will be available in Karachi, Lahore, and Islamabad centers

From now on, when you will go for your test registration with IELTS, you’ll be provided with an option allowing you to pick whether you want to give the test on papers or computer, along with the time that best works for you.

The computer-based test will also enable the British Council to deliver results faster which according to them will typically take five to seven calendar days after the test is given.

The content, timing, and the structure of the test will remain the same in both options. The speaking test of IELTS will remain face-to-face with a certified IELTS Examiner.

Upon choosing to give the test on a computer, you will also be given access to support materials with which you can prepare for the test.
