West-Indies International Women’s Cricket team arrives in Karachi for a T20I series

The West Indies international women cricket team has arrived in Karachi to play a three-match T20 series starting tomorrow. All the matches will be played at Karachi’s Southend Club.

The return of Windies Women marks the return of International cricket for women after 4 years. Last time Pakistan hosted Bangladesh for two T20s in September 2015. As far as West-Indies goes, the country last toured Pakistan in 2004, 15 years ago.

On this historic occasion, the Windies women captain Marissa Aguilleira said that she was very happy that her team was here in Pakistan after 15 years. She also said that she was glad to see women cricket in Pakistan improving.

Speaking to the media, she also added that this series will serve as a bonus to the team because they will be playing Pakistan in the T20 world cup next year as well.

The stand-in captain of Pakistan’s men international cricket team, Shoaib Malik also welcomed the Windies to Pakistan via a tweet.

Welcome to Pakistan @mraguilleira and team, exciting times! All the best for the series and hope you get some time to check out the beautiful city of Karachi where I grew up. I’m sure @mir_sana05 @maroof_bismah and team have planned some fun activities, hope you all enjoy.

Following the three matches in Pakistan, the two teams will go head-on in Dubai for three ODIs starting on February 7.
