The decision was taken with help from Social Welfare and Special Education Department. Around 11 shelter homes currently exist in KPK with three in Peshawar and other eight in the rest of the districts.

At the moment, the KPK government is busy collecting data of homeless people for proper identification to start working fully on the rest of the shelter homes.

Previously, makeshift shelter homes were inaugurated in Lahore by the name ‘Panahgah’ on the instructions of the Prime Minister of Pakistan. These shelter homes provide a comfortable¬†place for the homeless to sleep and protect themselves from the harsh cold of the winter in Pakistan.
