Thousands of Pakistani-Americans gathered in New York to celebrate the Independence Day of Pakistan with a Pakistan day parade. The women, children, men, and the elderly were dressed in traditional green and white Pakistani dresses to show their culture.
There were plenty of activities including a concert by Atif Aslam and tons of different desi food.
The mayor of New York, Bill De Blasio was also present at the celebrations. He took on the stage to congratulate Pakistanis on the recent elections in Pakistan and then he thanked the work of Pakistanis in the New York Police Department.
At the end of his speech, Blasio delightedly used the slogan ‘Pakistan Zindabad’.
Atif Aslam controversy at Pakistan Day Parade New York
The Pakistan Day Parade was an excellent effort by Pakistani-Americans in New York to show their solidarity with the nation. However, there has been news today of Atif Aslam singing an Indian Song and refusing to hold the Pakistani flag offered by someone in the crowd.
So far there are conflicting reviews about the incident with some people posting videos as proof that Atif Aslam mostly sang Pakistani songs and the huge crowd present at the occasion thoroughly enjoyed his performance.
