Ever since the security situation of Pakistan improved, the country has seen a significant rise in the number of foreign tourists visiting it.
According to Pakistan Tourism Development Corporation (PTDC), about 42,247 foreign tourists have toured Pakistan from 2013 to 2017.
Here is a breakdown of tourists coming to Pakistan on a yearly basis:
- 2013: 10,560
- 2014: 5,575
- 2015: 6,475
- 2016: 9,161
- 2017: 10,476
Steps are being taken to increase these numbers
The PTDC is expecting this number to rise especially after the intentions of the new government to boost the Pakistani tourism industry. More and more efforts are being made to encourage international travelers to come to Pakistan. Efforts to improve tourism facilities are also being made.
In the coming months and the year to follow, PTDC announced that advertisements for Pakistan tourism will also be displayed in various countries including banners, seminars, conferences, websites and more.
These steps will effectively increase the soft image of Pakistan and will enable more international visitors to come to the country in the coming years.
The PTDC has also launched a new platform ‘Pakistan Tourism Friends Club’ which members will be given an exclusive discount of 20% on all facilities belonging to the PTDC if the tourists decide to use them.
