The Royal International Air Tattoo (RIAT) is the world’s largest military air show. It is held annually in the month of July usually at the Fairford in Gloucestershire, England in order to support The Royal Air Force Charitable Trust.
One of the highlights of the air show is the tattoo competition where military aircrafts from around the world artistically dress in tattoos and compete for the title.
This year as many as 31 countries are set to compete in the airshow including Australia, United Kingdom, United States, Austria, Belgium. Canada, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany and more.
PAF C-130, the No.6 Squadron Hercules has already landed at the Royal Air Force Base, Fairford (UK) to prepare for the show beginning tomorrow.
This year’s show theme is the ‘International Centenary celebrations of the Royal Air Force’.
The Pakistan Air Force team comprising of air and ground crew are set to compete in different competitions and events at the event.
Pakistan Air Force won the trophy in 2016
Pakistan Air Force (PAF) C-130 Hercules won the Concours D’ Elegance trophy at the Royal International Air Tattoo (RIAT) show in 2016.
The aircraft competed against more than 200 aircrafts from 50 countries.
The aircraft was painted after in honor of achievements and sacrifices of the PAK army during the Operation Zarb-i-Azb. Visitors of the air show were also briefed about the major role PAF played in the success of the operation.
