National weightlifter Nooh Dastgir Butt returned to Pakistan with a gold medal yesterday. He won the gold in World Junior Weightlifting Championship that was being held in Tashkent, Uzbekistan.
The 20-year-old lifted a total of 399KG to win the gold medal in a clean and jerk session. This has made him the first Pakistani to win a gold medal at the world junior weightlifting championship.
Nooh also made headlines in April when he won a Bronze medal at the Commonwealth Games in Australia by lifting 171kg weight.
Nooh is without any doubt one of the fastest emerging weightlifters from Pakistan. He has also won a gold medal in Commonwealth Youth Championship held locally.
Upon his return to Pakistan, Nooh addressed a press conference where he expressed his gratitude towards the government who provided him with necessary cooperation.
He said that he was very happy that he won a gold medal and made Pakistan proud.
