The unfortunate event that took away a life of an innocent child and injured 25 others in the newly inaugurated Askari Amusement Park in Karachi has shocked the people on social media.
Prior to its opening, the park management had promised to provide secure and safe rides for people. The management had also said that the rides would be of international standards and will be installed by foreign engineers.
Despite their claims, the ride still failed. As soon as the incident occurred, the management was nowhere to be seen. Local authorities since then sealed the park and shut it off until further investigation.
Initial investigation reports have revealed that the ride collapsed due to a defect in the bolts. When it could not support the load, the bolts broke and the ball bearings slipped which resulted in the crash.
According to reports, the ride was opened to the public on a trial basis. Unfortunately, the park management seems to have rushed the opening which was on the first day of Eid-Ul-Fitr last month.
This isn’t the first time a joy ride has collapsed inside an amusement park in Pakistan. On many occasions, rides have fallen across the country in other similar parks.
Askari Amusement Park was the first amusement park that ‘promised’ international standard yet failed miserably and have broken the trust of people in the country.
