Comparing Imam-Ul-Haq’s first five ODI scores against ICC Top 5 current batsmen

Imam-Ul-Haq has completed two centuries in just 5 ODIs

When Imam-Ul-Haq was included in the ODI squad against Sri Lanka in 2017 by dropping the much experienced Fawad Alam, many people criticized the decision of Inzamam-Ul-Haq, the chief selector of Pakistan.

The two were accused of nepotism because they shared a blood bond – Inzamam-Ul-Haq is the uncle of Imam-Ul-Haq.

But as soon as the first match of the ODI series against Sri Lanka began, Imam-Ul-Haq shut down the critics with a stellar debut century, becoming the 2nd Pakistani ODI batsman ever to do so.

Imam-Ul-Haq secured his name in the hall of fame of cricketers who scored a hundred on their debut, this list includes only a few batsmen namely England’s Dennis Amiss, Michael Lamb, West Indies Desmond Haynes, Zimbabwe’s Andy Flower, New Zealand’s Martin Guptill, Rob Nicol, South Africa’s Colin Ingram, Temba Bavuma, Australia’s Phillip Hughes, Hong Kong’s Mark Chapman, India’s K.L Rahul, and Pakistan’s Saleem Elahi.

Thanks to his second century against Zimbabwe yesterday, Pakistan put up a massive total of 308 which helped them crush the opposition.

Imam-Ul-Haq has already scored 277 runs in his first five ODI matches which is higher than any of the current Top Five ICC ODI Ranked batsmen of the world.
