SSWMB reportedly gets rid of more than 1,500 tons of waste from District Central of Karachi

Piles of garbage had engulfed the district’s playgrounds, parks, and many other open spaces

Last year the issue of tons and tons of garbage piling up in the District Central of Karachi was raised on news channels, social media, and other forms of electronic media.

Constant pressure from these entities seems to have made Sindh Solid Waste Management Board (SSWMB) take action. The board reportedly cleared more than 1,500 tons of garbage from the district in just a few days.

According to a statement issued by the board yesterday, SSWMB is taking steps to cooperate with district administration to quickly dispose of garbage in order to provide relief to the common public.

The garbage disposal campaign by SSWMB will continue for the next few days. The board has assured that the process will keep going on without any interruption in the South, West, and East districts as well.

Moreover, the District Municipal¬†Corporation Central has also announced an ‘Extensive Green Campaign’ which will be conducted with help of private sector in the area. Within the campaign, the organizations will not only clean the district but will also plant trees.
