NUST just forced its student to apologize for calling ‘sexual torture’ of a female journalist on Twitter

NUST just forced its student to apologize and for calling for sexual torture of a female journalist on Twitter. On Tuesday, journalist and activist Gul Bukhari was allegedly abducted by unknown persons in Lahore.

Soon after the news of her disappearance emerged, Pakistani social media went into a frenzy. Journalists, activists and the general public took on Facebook and Twitter to speak their mind and voice their concern for the missing journalist.

While many came in support of Gul Bukhari, there were some who were not so positive in voicing their concern. For example, this student from NUST called out for sexual torture of Gul Bhukhari.

The tweet instantly angered quite a few people on the internet. Soon after, NUST took immediate notice of the remarks made by their student and appropriate action was taken against him.

The Student has now apologized for his remarks and is now being counseled by NUST Centre for Counselling & Career Advisory, and will also undergo mandatory community service so as to develop respect for women.

Gul Bukhari accepts the apology

Soon after Mursaleen apologized, Gul Bukhari also shared her response on Twitter accepting his apology;

Thank you for your apology. You are probably young enough to be my son. I do pray to god that you never wish sexual torture on any woman, leave alone on a woman old enough to be your mother. My sincere prayers for your future. God bless.
