Two years ago, Mustafa Ali became the first professional wrestler with Pakistani roots to compete in the World Wrestling Entertainment.
Mustafa Ali quickly rose through the ranks to become a highlighter of WWE’s 205 Live brand. But he isn’t the only Pakistani in WWE as of now.
Bilal Ansari, known by his ring name Amir Jordan has also made it to WWE by recently competing in the WWE UK Championship tournament.
Ansari hails from Karachi’s North Nazimabad area but has lived most of his life abroad and has worked as a banker before entering the world of professional wrestling.
Ansari’s family moved to the UK when he was only four years old but he came back to the country to complete his schooling. Upon completing his school, he returned to the UK and started his professional career in banking.
More about Amir Jordan
Bilan Ansari became passionate about wrestling after seeing how the sport connected with people despite language barriers. After spending only a few years in banking, Ansari quit his desk job and decided to train for a professional wrestling career.
After training under veteran wrestlers in the UK for about two and a half years, he finally got a chance to compete on the WWE’s United Kingdom Championship Tournament.
Although he lost his first match against wrestler Zack Gibson, he was loved and cheered for by the crowd.
Ansari now aims to be part of the newly announced WWE brand in the UK ‘WWE NXT UK’.
