Ikram Motor Works, a garage in Karachi has been working tirelessly to restore the 1955 Cadillac series 62 convertible which was once owned by Fatima Jinnah.
The restoration work on the car has finally been completed and it took almost two years of hard work and approximately PKR 15 million.
The restoration was completed in seven phases which included complete mechanical work, electrical work, dent and paint, upholstery, steel, and pewter chroming 3M undercoating and detailing by Ceramic Pro Pakistan in Karachi.
According to Mr. Mohsin Ikram, owner of Ikram Motor Works and vintage cars enthusiast, the focus of this restoration was to preserve as many original parts of the car as possible.
The 1955 Cadillac series 62 convertible was restored by replacing some of the original parts with brand new Chinese / Taiwan made parts. Mohsin Ikram admits that the car is hardly original anymore but revealed that the engine and many other parts of the car are the same as when Fatima Jinnah owned it.
The original purpose of this restoration two years ago was to have the car ready so it could be displayed at the National Museum Karachi.
