Rawalpindi gets a new park spread over 110 kanals

Rawalpindi is best known for many of its parks including Jinnah Park, Ayub Park, Liaquat Bagh and more. Starting today, the citizens of the city will have access to a brand new park just inaugurated on Rawal Road.

The new park, effectively titled ‘Shahbaz Sharif Park’ offers a familiar family atmosphere with tons of additional facilities within the park.

The park spreads across 110 kanals and effectively replaces an area which was previously used as a garbage dump.

Within the park, there is a football ground made of artificial ground, a basketball court, a gymnasium, jogging track, food court and spacious parking for visitors.

The park also has its own modern security system ensuring the safety of visitors and floodlights, garden lights and plenty of horticulture work that includes plantation for beautifying the park.

Since the park is located very close to Benazir Bhutto International Airport Runaway, a Memorandum of Understanding was signed between the Civil Aviation Authority and the park authorities to never construct a building inside the park.

But since the airport has now been moved and the previous one is no longer functional, there could be changes in the agreement but only time will tell.
