Pakistan Rugby team has qualified for the Asia Rugby Championship Division III Central. The tournament started on Wednesday with four teams including Pakistan, Kazakhstan, Mongolia, and Kyrgyzstan.
Pakistan secured the position in the final by defeating Kyrgyzstan by 82-0. Now the team is all set to face Kazakhstan in the final of the tournament.
If won, this will be the biggest win for Pakistan in Rugby in an international tournament. The final will be played on Saturday at around 12:00 PM at the Stadium of the First President in Almaty.
Pakistani Rugby team is currently ranked 91st in the World Rugby rankings. They are set to compete with Kazakhstan who is currently ranked 61st in the World Rugby rankings.
The Pakistani team is led by Kashif Khawaja of Islamabad Jinn Rugby Club. He is one of the most capped players in the country.
Khawaja looks very confident and believes that the team has prepared well for the tournament and hopes that they will win the cup.
Rugby is quickly growing in the country thanks to Pakistan Rugby Union which is doing a fantastic job of promoting the game in the country. They are running the ‘Get into Rugby’ program which has provided the youth a chance to play the game on a professional level.
