The Capital Development Authority (CDA) along with Metropolitan Corporation Islamabad (MCI) have started a tree plantation campaign in the city.
The CDA and MCI are now providing one plant sapling to each house in Islamabad with an aim to cover 30,000 houses in March. Trained staff from the organization will visit houses in Islamabad to not only distribute the saplings but to also educate the citizens on growing them properly.
The main objective of this campaign is to involve the people of Islamabad directly in the Tree Plantation campaign to ensure that the clean and green environment of Islamabad is kept.
The environment wing of CDA has set aside four vehicles exclusively for this campaign who will visit various doorsteps of Islamabad to provide a sapling. According to CDA, the first phase of the campaign will be kept going until 19th March.
From there on the second phase of the campaign will begin where the local community along with elected representatives will be called on a specially designated site to plant trees. The organization aims to plant 70,000 indigenes plants during the second phase of the campaign.
The third and final phase of the campaign will carry out massive plantation of trees at Margalla Hills National Park and Botanical Garden Banigalla.
