Pakistan meteorological department had forecasted rain in Karachi for this week. Seems like their forecast was pretty accurate. Last night at about 4:30 AM, Karachi witnessed its first hailstorm after nearly four years.
This was the first winter rain of the season recorded in the city and hail and rain were seen at many different parts of the city including Clifton, Saddar, DHA, Kharadar, Sharae Faisal, II Chundrigar Road, Nazimabad, Malir and more.
The showers in these parts of the city were accompanied by gusty winds, thunder, and lightning. Soon after the hailstorm, numerous pictures started appearing on Facebook with people holding the hails in their hand.
Rain will continue throughout the week in Sindh
According to the meteorological department of Pakistan, more rain is expected in Karachi. A westerly wave has entered Pakistan from Sunday which will produce more rain and snow over the mountains through Wednesday.
As a result, the cold wave that has hit Karachi today will continue throughout the week along with many parts of Balochistan and Sindh.
Although the rain in the city was a welcoming change for a region which rarely experiences extreme cold, many parts of the city are now in pools of water with power breakdowns being reported.
