Last week Saeed Ajmal, one of the legendary offspinners from Pakistan announced his retirement from all forms of cricket. At the end of the National Twenty20 tournament, Ajmal will no longer play in any form of cricket.
Ajmal announced his retirement saying that he had a very satisfying career in which he managed to achieve whatever goals he had set for himself. He was glad that his skills as a player helped the Pakistani team win many matches.
To honor his career and his services to the Pakistani cricket team and Pakistan, the Pakistan Super League franchise Islamabad United threw a post-retirement dinner for him. The entire squad of Islamabad United along with director of cricket Waqar Younis and Coach Dean Jones were present at the occasion.
Saeed Ajmal is currently the Spin Bowling Coach of Islamabad United and will continue to offer his services throughout the next season of Pakistan Super League.
According to sources, despite being ignored by Pakistan Cricket Board, Ajmal has announced that he will willingly help the board if his skills and talents are ever required.
Ajmal’s career was disrupted when his bowling action was called for suspect action by the ICC. After changing his bowling action, Saeed Ajmal was unable to make a successful comeback to international cricket.
