As far as the performance goes, Apple has created a new chip which it is calling the A11 Bionic. According to Apple, it is the strongest chip ever in any smartphone.
The new chip has Six cores and a 64-bit design with 4.3 billion transistors. 2 out of 6 cores are 25% faster than the A10 chip with the remaining four high-efficiency cores that are 70% faster than the previous chip.

With the home button gone, the lock button has taken its place and it has been placed above where the time display usually is. To quickly unlock the phone, you just have to swipe your finger from bottom to top.
Also replacing the finger scanner is a face-scanner which Apple is calling the Face ID. Simply look at the phone and it unlocks.
Unlock through Facial recognition
To make the phone able to recognize you whether you wear a hat, or glasses or anything else on your head or face, Apple has installed a specific processor with specialized machine learning algorithms.
Also, your eyes need to be open and you must be paying attention to the phone in order for it to unlock. This is to prevent anyone from unlocking your phone while you’re asleep or forcefully putting the phone on your face.
The iPhone X has dual cameras both having 12 MP sensors with f1.8 and f2.4 apertures. These cameras are both OIS which is a big deal.
