Amir Khan is set to launch Pakistan’s first ‘Super Boxing League’

The league will consist of 8 teams and 8 boxers starting in December 2017

British-Pakistani boxing star Amir Khan is all set to launch ‘Super Boxing League’ in Pakistan complete with franchise based teams.

After his differences with his wife Faryal, the celebrity boxer was in Pakistan to celebrate Eid-Ul-Adha when he made this announcement during an interview with the press inside his boxing academy ‘Amir Khan Academy’.

Speaking to the press, Amir Khan revealed that the league will consist of 8 local franchise based teams with 8 boxers.

The teams will be made following cities of Pakistan including Islamabad, Peshawar, Multan, Lahore, Faisalabad, Quetta, Lahore, Sialkot and Karachi.

Amir hopes that the league will give a huge boost to the local boxing scene and will promote Pakistani talent at the international level.

He does not intend on including international boxers to the league in the first edition of SBL because he wishes to promote the local talent first.

The league will take place in coming December but the venue has not been finalized yet. Amir also insisted that the title of the championship will be owned by World Boxing Council. This is a great opportunity for local boxers to win a WBC belt.

He also announced that women boxers will also be a part of this league.
