PCB along with Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif held a grand reception for Pakistani cricket team at the PM Secretariat last night. During the reception, awards were distributed amongst the players for returning home victorious from their match against India and winning the ICC Champions Trophy.
PM Nawaz Sharif along with PCB Chairman Sheriyar Munawer and PSL Chairman Najam Sethi addressed the cricket team and called them the real heroes of Pakistan while distributing cash prizes and medals.
When the cricket team returned victorious from the ICC Champions Trophy 2017, they were promised cash prizes from the Prime Minister and Pakistan Cricket Board. Apart from that, many private companies also awarded the players with various gifts such as plots, cars and more.
The event was made even more lively with the presence of iconic artists like Amanat Ali Khan who performed patriotic songs in the presence of the entire cricket team and other guests who were present at the event.
At the end of the award handing ceremony, Najam Sethi took the stage to announce that International Cricket is returning to Pakistan as World XI will be sent by ICC to Pakistan in September. Following that, the cricket board will make sure other international teams return to Pakistan for cricket.
Sarfaraz Ahmed made captain of the Test team
During the reception, the chairman of the Pakistan Cricket Board announced that Sarfaraz Ahmed would also be becoming the captain of Pakistani Cricket team in the test format.
Apart from that, several cricketers were also invited on the stage to share a few words on their experiences throughout the tournament. During this time Sarfaraz Ahmed also recited a beautiful Naat for the gathering and Shoaib Malik had a very witty conversation with the hosts of the reception.
