Remembering Aamir Zaki, one of Pakistan’s greatest guitarists

The god gifted and ultimately talented Pakistani guitarist Aamir Zaki passed away today at the age of 49. His death was confirmed by his relatives, specifically his brother Shahid Zaki.

The family is currently moving the body and the funeral will be held tomorrow. According to sources close to the artist, he died because of an immediate heart failure. The source also claimed that Aamir was fighting a prolonged illness and his body finally gave up today.

Aamir Zaki was without any doubt Pakistan’s pride when it came to playing the guitar. He started playing the guitar at around age 14. He became the band member of Vital Signs in 1994. Throughout his career with Vital Signs, he toured different countries but after releasing the 4th album for the band, Aamir Zaki left the group to pursue a solo career.

In 1995, Zaki released his first solo album titled ‘Signature’ which had the chart topper ‘Mera Pyaar’ single in it. Only recently Aamir Zaki returned to music by making an appearance in Coke Studio and then went on to become a mentor at a social media music program ‘Sing with Aqeel’.

Fans including celebrities from across the country mourned his passing through various social media statuses.
