The Danish Air Force recently released a video of a newly acquired Sikorsky MH-60R Seahawk helicopter attempting to land on a warship.
The film was captured in a very extreme weather where landing a copter on a moving warship between Norway and Iceland.
The Seahawk was under trial with a Danish and Australian pilot who were tasked to find out the landing and flight restrictions of the helicopter in very extreme weather conditions.
From the video below, you can see that landing a seahawk on a moving warship in extreme conditions isn’t an easy task. It involves a lot of coordination, skill, and tons of bravery to pull out.
The Sikorsky SH-60 Seahawk helicopter uses a turboshaft engine and is a multi-mission air vessel used by the United States Navy.
It is based on the original UH-60 Black Hawk used by the United States Army.
A single unit of the helicopter is estimated at US$42.9 million.
The Danish Army recently required 3 of these helicopters which they had ordered in June 2012.
