In January, photos of six-year-old Murtaza Ahmadi from Afghanistan went viral. The boy was captured in a photograph wearing the famous number 10 shirt made out of stripped plastic bag.
The number 10 stripped shirt is famous because it is worn by Barcelona football icon Lionel Messi. Ahmadi loves football and his favorite football star is Messi.
The photos were shared over the internet and reached millions of people including Messi who ended up sending the boy a signed shirt.
Now, according to Qatar’s 2022 World Cup organizing committee, the two have met face to face in Doha.
Barcelona is currently in Qatar to play a friendly match against Al Ahli, scheduled to take place on Tuesday. Ahmadi will walk alongside his hero to the pitch.

Ahmadi was identified by his uncle who currently lives in Australia. He contacted BBC trending and helped them find the boy. Ahmadi was forced to leave Afghanistan and find refuge in Pakistan with his father.
