Facebook Inc told on Monday that they are testing a brand new feature that will let page administrators to create job openings and take on applications from interested people within the platform. This move no doubt will put a lot of pressure on LinkedIn which is a primary source for job seekers and professionals.
A spokesperson spoke to Reuters, saying:
Based on behavior we’ve seen on Facebook, where many small businesses post about their job openings on their Page, we’re running a test for Page admins to create job postings and receive applications from candidates
Techcrunch was the first ones to notice a change in their business page. A new ‘Job’ tab was added to their page which can be seen below:
LinkedIn may lose a lot of its business
One of the primary forms of generating profit for LinkedIn has been from job hunters and recruiters. They have to pay a premium fee on a monthly basis to post their resumes or connect with people for business or job opportunities.
With this new feature, Facebook will now allow page owners to post job openings as well as promote their business through one solution.
Facebook is quickly taking over many other social networks and other platforms that offer different kind of facilities like booking tickets, ordering food and finding things to buy through a marketplace.
In addition to this, Facebook is also taking on popular applications like Prisma through their new photo filter application called style.
