Starbucks may face intense competition

Starbucks sure has taken its time to come to Pakistan. During their absence from Pakistan, several other world famous coffeehouses have made Pakistan their home.

We’r talking about Gloria Jeans Coffees, Coffee Planet and Second Cup. All of these popular brands are already very well established in Pakistan. They have even introduced local blends and snacks to cater the Pakistani market.

In order to compete with these brands, Starbucks may have to work really hard. And its not just the pricing structures they have to match, but also the menu lineup needs to be according to the demands of the public.

Additionally, due to its popularity, several third party cafes have used the Starbucks name to sell coffee. For example, there are a couple of cafes in Lahore that advertise selling Starbucks coffee. They may be selling raw coffee acquired from Starbucks somehow, but they can never match the taste and consistency of coffee produced by the brand itself.
