Microsoft Announces Its First Ever Desktop PC Inside A LCD Monitor – Could This Be Threat To Apple Mac?

Microsoft has just extended its Surface lineup to bring in desktop editions. The company has just announced the incredibly thin Surface Studio desktop PC during a live event in New York City.

The surface studio will be available in holiday season for $2,999, $3,999 and $4,199 depending on how powerful the hardware is. The PC will be released in limited quantities during the first phase. The pre orders have already begun and the PC will be available to test in Microsoft retail store across the United States.

Screen and hardware specifications of Surface Studio

The Surface Studio has a 12.5mm thin touchscreen display that is being dubbed as the thinnest LCD monitor ever built. It is enclosed inside an aluminium casing which measures 28 inches. The output of the display is 13.5 million pixels. This is 63% more than a 4K television output.

The color output will help photographers, video graphers and designers a lot because it is critical for the nature of their jobs. The screen has a 3:2 aspect ratio with 192 pixels per inch and it is being powered by a 6th generation Intel processor with a Nvidia GTX 980M powering the graphics department.

Microsoft has also included a hinge that allows the display to be adjusted in a 20 degree orientation that is extremely helpful in drawing or marking documents.
