The real world house that was featured as a set for 4 Privet Drive in the Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone is now up for grabs. This house, located in Berkshire, England is a three bedroom house that is up for sale for £475,000 ($619,500).
In the fictional world of Harry Potter, the Dursley’s home is located at 4 Privet Drive, in the village of Little Whinging, Surrey. This is actually not a real place. The real house is located at 12 Picket Post Close in Martins Heron, Bracknell in Berkshire.
The house isn’t exactly what you saw in the movies.
A clear look at the gallery of the listing page of the house shows that it is a modern style fully furnished house that looks absolutely nothing that we saw in the movie.
According to a report by BBC, the actual owner of the house was approached by Warner Bros studios in 2000 to use the house for the movie which was released in 2001.
The set experts turned the house into how the Dursleys had it in the books. It took about two weeks to shoot the scenes that were featured in the movie. Another interesting fact is that the set designers never had to build a cupboard under the stairs where Harry lived because the house already had one in it.
