If you’ve nothing to do on the 14th of August, add this event by Pakistan Railways to your to do list on independance day.
Railway Pakistan has just launched an exclusive 30 day ‘Azadi Train’ that will begin its journey across Pakistan starting today. The train will travel a total of 4,000 KMs reportedly in whole month. It’s starting point will be from Islamabad. The train will then travel to Karachi going through Peshawar, Lahore and Quetta.
A Cultural Showcase Awaits You On Board
The train was prepared exclusively for 14th August by the Islamabad Carriage Factory. It’s aim is to display the various cultures of Pakistan including Sindh, Khyber PakhtunKhwa, Jammu and Kashmir, Punjab, Balochistan and Gilgit Baltistan. A special coach is dedicated to Pakistan Army is also on display.
Various artists from the vicinity of Islamabad and Rawalpindi made this project possible. Pakistan Railways received honorable help from Lok Virsa and Pakistan National Council of Arts to make this all possible.
The train aims to represent the society and cultures of different provinces, to people living in various parts of the country – to inform them about the country, from K-2 to the Arabian Sea – Mohammad Yousaf, Islamabad Carriage Factory Managing Director.
The Azadi Train Is Not A Passenger Train
Unfortunately, if you were thinking of travelling on the unique train to your next destination, you will be disappointed to hear that the Azadi Train is not a passenger train. Instead, it will make it’s way to 40 different cities and will stay at those stations where people can come on board and see the displays it has to offer.
