Pakistan Railways is all set to launch their new electronic ticketing system. The new electronic ticketing system will go live in June and United Bank Limited will be handling the services.
Pakistan Railways has never had a good reputation with people from above the middle class. But it is still being used by thousands and thousands of people in the country on daily basis.
With the new electronic ticketing system, you will now be able to buy the tickets online and pay for them via online banking, credit/debit cards, Easypaisa, UBL Omni and Mobicash.
It isn’t clear whether there will be a mobile application avialable to get the job done. But one thing is for sure, using your computer or mobile, you will be able to book and buy tickets via the internet.
Pakistan Railways has also faced a lot of criticism for over charging the passengers for tickets. With the new electronic ticketing system, it will become impossible for railway officials to charge extra because there will be no human interactivity involved.
But the question still remains, how many people will use this service? Remember, Pakistan is a country where people still aren’t used to ATMs.
