During the World Martial Arts Summit in Bangkok, Thailand, a Pakistani team of kickboxing made huge success.
The event which was held between December 21 -28 saw as many as 12 countries taking part in different competitions.
Pakistan sent out a team of kickboxers compromising of 8 fighters with five officials. During the competition, these fighters were able to secure 5 gold medals at the event.
The first medal was won by the Pakistani team captain, Inamul Haq in the 80kg category.
He defeated competitors from Turkey, Bangladesh and finally an American opponent to win the fight. He won the fight in the second round to secure a gold medal.
Each round was scheduled to be 3 minutes round.
Inamul Haq has been training for more than 16 years in the field of Martial arts and kickboxing. This is the first time he has fought internationally and won.
Haq said that it was a self-financed trip and every fighter had to bear the costs of traveling and staying in the country.
The fighter reached international stage thanks to Grand Master Zulfi Ahmed who is known for founding the Bushi Ban International club.
Without any support from the government, it is great to see that Pakistani athletes are still reaching their dreams.
